Sol Summer Series · Reactive skin

For a lot of people with eczema or reactive skin, summer is complicated. Long days outside, swimming, travel and heat all sound lovely, but they can also mean itchy, flushed, uncomfortable skin.

Here's what tends to set skin off in the warmer months, and what helps.

Common summer triggers

01Heat and sweatOverheating and sweat sitting on the skin are common flare triggers.
02SwimmingChlorine and salt water can leave skin dry and tight, especially if it isn't rinsed and moisturised afterwards.
03Routine changesHolidays often mean new products, less sleep, skipped steps and sunscreens that sting.

Practical ways to keep skin comfortable

  • 01Keep it simple. Reactive skin often needs a simpler routine in summer, not more products.
  • 02Support your barrier daily. A consistent moisturiser helps reduce moisture loss and keeps irritants and allergens out.
  • 03Rinse after swimming and moisturise straight away.
  • 04Find an SPF your skin tolerates. We can help you choose one for sensitive skin.
  • 05Soothe a flare gently. Use a cold, damp compress or a cold pack wrapped in a soft cloth. Never put ice directly on the skin.

How our CAP care pathway works

Constance at Sol Studio
Every reactive-skin client starts with an individual assessment. We look at your skin, your history, your triggers and what you've already tried, then decide together whether Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) therapy is suitable.

If it is, treatment is tailored to your skin and paired with barrier-focused homecare. If it isn't, we'll tell you, and we'll talk about what would suit you better.

We won't promise flare-free skin, but we will help you understand it and support it through the season. For ongoing care, explore our Eczema & TSW Repair membership.

Plan your summer skin, or get in touch if you're in a flare.
